If your grabber crane will not take coins, the first thing to check is the wiring to the coin mech.
The two most common coin mechs used on cranes are the RM5 and the Microcoin SP.
For the purpose of this post we are basing it on a Microcoin SP coin mech.
When the Microcoin SP is functioning correctly, the first light will be solid green and the fourth light will be flashing green.
If there is an issue with the coin mech, then the first light will be a solid red.
Please note that on a RM5 there are no lights to indicate a fault.
First, check that the wires are plugged in to the back of the mech securely and that no wires are damaged.
Next check that there are no foreign bodies pushed into the front of the mech where coins are inserted. If there is an obstruction, ensure the machine is turned off and then remove the foreign body with a pair of tweezers or such like.
If coins are still not accepted following these checks, swap out the coin mech. You could use a spare mech or borrow one from another machine, but it must be the same type and you must know that it works. If this mech does not work, then the problem may be blocked sensors if your machine is a crane.
We have a video called 'Coin accepted but gantry and claw won't move' which covers blocked sensors in cranes.
We have a series of self help arcade videos on Youtube called Tech Talk, click here to watch.
